How we compared
This is a comparison of each vendor's public pages, checked on 16 October 2026: Gling and Descript. We did not run one recording through both tools, so nothing here says which cuts better. Plans change. We make ClipsPal, and nothing here is rated or ranked.
1. Gling
Best for: creators who cut a raw recording, then finish in another editor.
Gling says it is designed exclusively for desktop. You upload a raw recording and its AI transcribes it, then removes unwanted takes and silences. You review the result and refine it by editing the text or removing clips from the timeline.
It also lists filler word removal, AI captions, automatic zoom in and out, noise removal, multicam editing, and YouTube title and chapter generators. It exports to Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Premiere, or to MP4 or MP3 with SRT captions.
On pricing, the limit is hours of AI-edited media a month: 1 on Free, 10 on Plus, 30 on Pro and 100 on Elite. Free exports have a watermark. Stay with Gling if you already finish in Premiere, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve and only want the cutting done for you.
2. Descript
Best for: teams and creators who want to record, edit and publish in one app.
Descript describes itself as an AI video and audio editor where you edit by editing text. You record or import, it transcribes, and deleting a word from the transcript deletes that moment of video. The timeline is there when you want it.
Its pricing page lists Remove Retakes, Remove Filler Words, Shorten Word Gaps and Edit for Clarity, plus Studio Sound and Underlord, its AI co-editor. It also lists remote recording, comments on the video, captions, clips and translation.
There is a free plan. Paid plans are priced per person and limit media hours and AI credits: 10 hours and 400 credits on Hobbyist, 30 hours and 800 credits on Creator, 40 hours and 1500 credits on Business. Stay with Descript if you want one editor for recording, cutting, captions and clips.
3. ClipsPal
Best for: recurring raw talking-head recordings on a Mac, cut for you. We make it.
ClipsPal is a Mac app for macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs are not supported. This is how a raw recording becomes a first cut:
- Drop in the raw recording with all its takes.
- ClipsPal transcribes it on your Mac. Only the transcript goes to the AI account you already have (Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode) or to a free local model. Footage never leaves the Mac.
- One click cuts failed takes, silences and filler, and adds zoom-ins, subtitles, visuals and sound effects.
- The result opens in a multi-track timeline. Edit by hand, or type a request to Director.
- Finished videos can become shorts and articles.
Review the cut before you export:
- Scrub each cut and check no good take was removed.
- Read the subtitles against what you said.
- Adjust or delete any zoom-in that lands on the wrong word.
It is a one-time lifetime purchase with a free download. See pricing and the Mac download. It edits recorded video files, and there is no browser editor. The YouTube video editor page covers the workflow in more detail, and the homepage shows the editor.
